One of my favorite subjects is indigenous futurism – a sub school of futurism. Indigenous futurism can be defined as a form of art that “envisions alternative futures where indigenous peoples are allowed to reclaim agency, sovereignty, and cultural continuity over culture, which may have been lost to time as well as cultural genocide, or ancestral homeland.”
These paintings allowed me to stretch portraiture work into the realms of fantastic sci-fi landscapes and themes. Not to mention, I find the mixture of traditional and futuristic, such as the female native mechanic.
