There’s no way to be indigenous in the Americas without tackling two subject matters: tradition, and politics. All across what we call Turtle Island is a treasure trove of stories, traditions, ceremonies, folktales, and myths. My challenge is to step lightly and only take from traditions that I find myself in or adjacent to – such as material from the Haudenosaunee or the Ngäbe.
