There's a kind of rage that doesn't explode — it concentrates. It becomes precise. This piece came out of one of those moments. I know exactly what set this off - reading the journals of Spaniard "conquerors" who encountered stiff opposition from tribes in their path. I imagined the fierceness and rage it took to not back down.
