Petroglyph Turtle

The turtle holds the world on its back. In Haudenosaunee creation story, Turtle Island is where Sky Woman landed, where she spread the earth, where everything began. This turtle is drawn in the language of the ancient marks — form reduced to its essential geometry, the way meaning outlasts stone. A living thing and a map of the cosmos at the same time.
