Wampum Bracelet

I've been beading my own wampum — sitting with the shells, learning the patience the work demands, feeling what it means to make something bead by bead that carries that much history and meaning. I wanted to bring that energy into a painting. This one is semi-abstract, less about depicting wampum than about the color and power of it — the blue and red and white that carry so much more than decoration. The bracelet as artifact, as identity, as something alive.
