War Captain

This is not a celebration of violence. It's a meditation on what it costs. Someone has to be chosen — by the community, by necessity, by circumstance — to go and do what no one wants to do. I thought about what that face must look like. Not glory, not bloodlust. Something heavier than both: the full knowledge of what is being carried, and the decision to carry it anyway. For the people.
