Fight Back

When I painted this, I was thinking about all the native kids who were swept up into the residential schools, where so many of them died of disease, malnutrition, neglect, and violence. I thought, what if they could fight back? What if, one day, the hatchet they were given to chop wood could be turned against their oppressors?
