Grief

I think about 1492 a lot. Not as a date in a textbook — as a before and after. The world that existed before that year - the civilizations, the languages, the ceremonies, the joy — and then the long slow grief of watching it disappear generation by generation. This piece is for everyone who mourned. And everyone who still does.
