I Love You

These are not words that exist only in romance. In Haudenosaunee tradition, love is a community practice — expressed toward family, toward the land, toward the generations who came before and those who will come after. I'm learning to say this in my own ancestral language. It takes on a different weight when the word has been kept alive by people who were punished for speaking it.
